24” x 30” oil on canvas
The first Iris field I had ever seen was just outside Santa Fe. The red dirt made a perfect contrast with the green and blue and the placement of this gorgeous field of color, an oddity for the desert. This work is exaggerated in texture, almost three dimensional, the cotton wood trees in a rolling field to the right brings it into perspective. The colors brilliant. A theme stole from the works of Van Gogh, the fluidness of fields that are as waves, flowers bursting forth, rich colors of blue among green vegetation, multi-colors of greens. Greens, reds, a wheat field of gold. So very opposite those drab fields, the ones I knew back in Texas.
