We are in our touring car in the pre-dawn hours that for many are still night. Stars are shining through where clouds have moved on. It is cold and raining. About us are provisions piled high. They make a rattling sound with each bump we hit along the lonesome road that leads we know not where.
Hopefully, what we have will be enough until we can find a distant relative or some charitable friend to take us in. And though we are totally uprooted from all we know, still this is better, we have each other.
