This too is a work completed on Hydra, my home in Mendraki, the two years I spent there. Because I had fantasies of love when I came to Greece, instead I was disappointed, never accepted by the Greeks. And later, when I traveled much of the world I saw too, this was the case. And I am the god that never was, the golden son coming down from the mountain with head held high within the clouds and those others, they are more at peace, the same breed. Three are of a greenish color and another larger, predominately blue, more the goddess. The greens, the grass, the dead gnarly trees, a treacherous sky. The idea originated with Cezanne’s lake bathers, a painting still dear to my heart, one I had to give homage to.
